Chettinad pomfret Fish curry(chettinad vaval meen kulambu)


Ingredients
Pomfret fish ½ kg
Onion chopped 1 cup
Tomatoes chopped 2
Garlic 1 no
Tamarind extract 1 cup
Red chilli powder 1 tbsp
Coriander powder 2 tbsp
Fenugreek 1 tsp
Fennel seeds 1 tsp
Curry leaves 1 sprig
Salt and oil as required
Preparations
1.      Clean the fish pieces
2.      In a pan add oil, fenugreek, fennel, curry leaves and onions. sauté it
3.      Add garlic pods, tomatoes and again sauté it
4.      Then add the tamarind extract, chilli powder ,salt and coriander powder
5.      Add required water, once it starts boiling add the fish pieces and turn the flame to low
6.      Cook till the fish is done
            Serve after 2-3 hours with rice

Chettinad fish gravy


Ingredients
Fish pieces- 250 Gms
Lemon juice-1tsp
Ginger 1 inch
Garlic-10 pods
Tomato-2
Tamarind extract 2 cup
Mustard seeds-1/4tsp
Small onion chopped 1 cup
Coriander powder- 3 tsp
Red chilli powder 2 tsp
Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
Fenugreek seeds ½ tsp
Roasted jeera powder- ¼ tsp
Roasted fenugreek powder- ¼ tsp
 preparations
1.      Clean the fish pieces and marinate it with 1tsp chilli powder, lemon juice, salt and turmeric powder for 1- 2 hour
2.      in a pan add oil, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, chopped onion,ginger,garlic and sauté them well
3.      then add chilli powder, coriander powder and tomatoes, sauté  them well
4.      now add the tamarind extract ,salt and allow it to boil
5.      add the fish pieces and cook till the fish is done
6.      turn off the flame and sprinkle the jeera ,fenugreek powder
serve with rice after 2-3 hours for better taste.

Kanyakumari Fish Curry


Fish curry is one of the traditional dish of this cuisine. Most of all this cuisine resembles the authentic Kerala cuisine. This is mainly served as a main course in the hotels of Kanyakumari.

INGREDIENTS
Fish pieces                                    500 Gms
Onion chopped                             1 cup
Coconut grated                             1 cup
Garlic                                           6
Ginger                                          1 inch
Tomatoes                                     2
Poppy seeds                                1 tsp
Lemon                                         2
Tamarind extract                          1 cup
Coriander powder                       1 tsp
Chilli powder                              2 tsp
Mustard seeds                            ½ tsp
Cumin seeds                               ½ tsp
Fenugreek seeds                        ½ tsp
Curry leaves                              1 sprig
Oil and salt as required
Preparations
1. Clean the fish pieces and marinate it with lemon juice and salt for ½ hr
2. Make a fine paste of coconut, ginger, garlic, tomatoes and poppy seeds
3. In a pan add mustard, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, onion and sauté them well
4. Then add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and again sauté them
5. Add coconut paste, tamarind extract, salt and required water. Allow it to boil
6. Now add the marinated fish pieces and wait for the fish to cook.
Serve hot
