Marthandam Sardine Fish Curry (Matthi Meen Kulambu)


Ingredients
Sardine 500 Gms
Chilli powder 1 tsp
Coriander powder 2 tsp
Turmeric powder ½ tsp
Small onions 5
Ginger 1 inch
Onions chopped 1
Tomato 1
Green chilli 2
Curry leaves 1 sprig
Tamarind extract 1 cup
Oil and salt as required
Preparations
1.      Clean the sardine. Remove  the head and tail portion
2.      Pound small onion and ginger
3.      In a pan add oil, chopped onions,tomato,curry leaves and green chilli
4.      Add the pounded small onions and ginger
5.      Add  tamarind extract, chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder salt and required water
6.      Allow it to boil
7.      Once the curry starts boiling add the fish
8.      Cook till the fish is done
Serve with rice or parottas
