Kerala sardine fish curry (nadan mathi meen curry)


Ingredient
Sardine 500 gms
Onion 1
Garlic 10 pods
Ginger chopped 1 tsp
Green chilli 2
Curry leaf 2 sprigs
Mustard seeds ½ tsp
Fenugreek seeds ½ tsp
Curry powder 1 tbsp
Coriander powder 2 tbsp
Tamarind extract 1 ½ cups
Salt and oil as required
To grind
Red chilli 5
Coriander seeds 1 tbsp
Curry leaf 2 sprigs
Shallot 10
Roast in oil and grind to a smooth paste
Preparation
1.      In a bowl(clay pot) add cleaned fish, onion,ginger, garlic, green chilli, ground paste and salt
2.      Mix well and keep aside for ½ hr
3.      In a pan add oil, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, curry leaf and the marinated fish. Sauté well
4.      Add tamarind extract ,curry powder, coriander powder and required salt
5.      Allow it to cook till fish is done
Serve with rice
