Nethili meen ,anchovy in English is a very tastier variety of fishes. Though these are small sized variety of fishes, they have plenty of potassium reserves in it. These fishes we can have in plenty in the coastal regions of Tamilnadu and hence a typical dish of coastal areas.
Nethili meen 250 gms
Rice flour 2 tbsp
Chilli powder 2 tsp
Coriander powder 1 tbsp
Lemon 1
Fennel seeds 1tbsp
Onion chopped 1 cup
Ginger chopped1 tbsp
Garlic chopped 1 tbsp
Sambar powder 1 tbsp
Curry leaves 1 sprig
Salt and oil as required
preparations
1. Marinate the cleaned fish pieces with rice flour, chilli powder, and coriander powder and turmeric powder, salt and lemon juice for ½ hr
2. In a pan add oil and deep fry the marinated fish
3. In the remaining oil add fennel seeds, curry leaves, onion, ginger, garlic, sambar powder and sauté them well.
4. To it add the fried fish and toss it
Serve hot with sambar rice, kuruma or curd rice
